The new ($12m) pool facility compliments the leisure centre & will be great for people with disabilities & young families.
The Croydon Memorial Pool will still be a much loved facility for our youth, lap swimmers, sports carnivals & families that enjoy the picnic/outdoor atmosphere that CMP has always had.
After having a test run with 8 children (9 to 15 y/olds) prior to opening, the general consensus was that Ringwood & CMP are better, though the girls liked the mirror in the change room.
I would encourage everyone to try the new facility & judge for yourselves.
I am still disappointed the CMP was not upgraded to a new facility & feel that $12m spent on the upgrade would have provided a facility for the use by the whole community rather than parts of the community.
We now have to make sure that the future upgrade to the CMP that Councillors have agreed to goes ahead.
